You might find these websites in my bookmarks, but I gathered them here for the obvious reasons... More so, at this page I am able to have a shortlist with descriptions if necessary. If multiple sources are listed, I put them top-to-bottom in order of usefullness.
Event Log Service EventID.net At EventID.net you will find all the unclear Event ID's that you find in the event viewer. Most common events are there and you will find comments from users on the cause and the solution. It is a great alternative source since the Microsoft site seems to be just a little unclear about resolutions itself.
Port Numbers (TCP/UDP) Explanation of TCP and UDP, in case you need to know the difference.
Well Know Port Number List IANA.ORG is the authority that keeps track of assigned port numbers. This list describes port numbers by UDP and TCP. Text-based, seems to be updated regularly.
the Internet Ports Database Look up ports from a database. Returns results if the requested port is found specifically or as part of a port range. Uses several references, IANA.ORG is one of them.
Port Number List Similar to the first list, but unofficial and seemingly less comprehensive. For example: Lacking the IAX ports (4569 TCP/UDP).
