|Adding RedHat RPM packages the easy way|
|CentOS is not fully compatible with RedHat/Fedora's RPM packages. There is an online repository that makes many RPM packages available as recompiled CentOS packages. The following site is the repository and has the instructions on how to set it up.
What I would personally do, though, after installing but before actually using the repository, is the following:
Exit the repo file: /etc/yum.repos.d/kbsingh-CentOS-Extras.repo and set 'enabled=0' (instead of 1).
When looking for a package, first try the standard repos (automatic). When the package you are looking for can not be found, enable this repo for 1 search:
yum --enablerepo=kbs-CentOS-Extras search somepackage
Same goes for installing:
yum --enablerepo=kbs-CentOS-Extras install somepackage
Try to use as little updates to installed packages as possible, to avoid conflicts that mey bring your Asterisk box down.
