Under linux, a tool named lshw can do something similar. It needs to be installed first, so do (as root):
apt-get install lshw

By adding the -html option, you will receive an HTML file with the information in it. Look an the man pages for more options.
An other option is to use is 'dmidecode', which actually reads a number of values from the BIOS in addition to showing hardware ubfirnation. dmidecode does not seem to return information about add-in cards.
